Sept 26 commentary "For links to the articles I read on the air, guest websites, archived shows, my commentaries, and the text of Mark Stanneart’s latest commentary, visit: www.rabblerousing.org."

Naomi Wolf on BuzzFlash.com, regarding her new book The End of America: A Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot "People really don't understand what fascism looks like. They think it looks kind of like goose-stepping military and barbed wire everywhere. It doesn't look like that. I give examples of closed societies in the book, and after a society is closed, there will often still be a judiciary. There will be journalism. There will be radio. There will even be television. There will be universities and students. Many aspects of the institutions of civil society continue. What happens, though, is everybody knows how far you can go before you lose your job, or how far you can go before getting arrested."

Next item: a prime example of just how far down the road to fascism we have gone is the whole issue of media complicity in the suppression of the facts concerning 911. dr Robert abele in his spotlite on freedom commentaries has been pointing out various examples of the govt avoiding any sort of real investigation. He cites several examples of what an honest media should be focusing on, rather than the occasional references to the pros and cons of theories on how and why the towers fell. If you rely on corporate media and don’t peruse the web you might think the 911 controversy has gone away. It has not. Personally, Ive given up reporting on all the facts constantly emerging as some of my listeners have told me they are tired of hearing about it, and I have to confess, all the talk seems to be going nowhere. Anyone with a brain knows the govt is lying in its teeth and the highest elements in govt and the intelligence agencies were up to their eyeballs in complicity, but bottom line, what can we do about it? Our elected representatives wont touch it, even tho they have been thoroughly informed countless times. They pretend to know nothing. What do they fear? Well, how bout anthrax in your mail? Paul Wellstones plane crash? Jfk, rfk, martin luther king? Truly Courageous politicians in America seem to have a very short lifespan. Unless the media reports it, there will never be the groundswell of public opinion required to force the govt to begin to commence to start to tell some of the truth. That will never happen as it would lead to prison sentences for some of our top officials. The crime is called mass murder and treason.

Next item; here is what hunter s tompson had to say about 911- written the very next day after the towers were toppled    The towers are gone now, reduced to bloody rubble, along with all     hopes for Peace in Our Time, in the United States or any other    country. Make no mistake about it: We are At War now — with somebody    — and we will stay At War with that mysterious Enemy for the rest of    our lives. It will be a Religious War, a sort of Christian Jihad,    fueled by religious hatred and led by merciless fanatics on both    sides. It will be guerilla warfare on a global scale, with no front    lines and no identifiable enemy. … We are going to punish somebody    for this attack, but just who or what will be blown to smithereens    for it is hard to say. … This is going to be a very expensive war,    and Victory is not guaranteed — for anyone, and certainly not for    anyone as baffled as George W. Bush. All he knows is that his father    started the war a long time ago, and that he, the goofy    child-President, has been chosen by Fate and the global Oil industry    to finish it Now. He will declare a National Security Emergency and    clamp down Hard on Everybody, no matter where they live or why. If    the guilty won’t hold up their hands and confess, he and the    Generals will ferret them out by force. Good luck. He is in for a    profoundly difficult job — armed as he is with no credible Military
Intelligence, no witnesses and only the ghost of Bin Laden to blame    for the tragedy. Well, he had it right on, didn’t he?

Next item; The weekly astrology site thecosmicpath.com put it succinctly: we have a Congress that can condemn a perfectly legal free speech advertisement by Moveon.org but can’t get their act together to give us back our right to habeas corpus or end an illegal war based on lies.

Next item: the quakers have produced an interesting statistic. King geo’s follies in the middle east are costing our treasury 720 million dollars per day. One shudders to think what better purposes we could use that money for. On the other hand, if you are invested in the defense industries, its fat city. After all, How in hell can you make money feeding our kids, providing quality education, or offering free health care to all of our citizens? I mean lets get real. America is about rampant capitalism. Screw the people. Get it? Wellll, travis t hipp this morning stated that the figure is not 720 million, but 720 billion per day. Million, billion, does it really matter? Either figure is completely absurd. Now couple that with the present republican refusal to vote for a health care system for our nations children. A program that would cost an estimated $35 billion not per day, but over 5 years. The stated objection is that this program would lead to that most dreaded of phenomena socialized medicine. My question is simple and to the point. How can any elected official deny health care to children, and then look at themselves in the mirror? This leads to Socialized medicine? Gag me with a spoon. These are children for Christ sake. You cant accuse them of being too lazy to work. They cant go out and get jobs to pay for their health care. Either our society provides health care for them or they don’t get any. And this from the very same people who are against abortion on the spurious claim that every life is sacred. Sure it is, if that life belongs to the wealthy. My opinion is that these congresspersons, who all have one of the most generous socialized health care and pension plans on the planet, are heartless bastards and anyone who vote to keep them in office is equally heartless. Im going to emphasize that bit again. The health plan and pension plan that all of our representatives voted for themselves is paid for by we the people. Ergo, by definition it is socialized medicine, pure and simple. Heartless, greedy, selfish bastards. Where is the tar and feathers?

Next item: interesting phenomena happening in jena la. Physical Lynching of blacks is now politically incorrect, but 6 black high school kids get a legal lynching from the la court system, and hoards of people from all over the world descend on a community of 3000 to protest. No indication yet of whether their protest will lead to justice for the 6 kids, but it does indicate that some people will get off of their tv couches for some issues. Perhaps there is hope for our sad nation.

Next item: you got to just giggle at the us govt response to the psudo iraiqi govt being upset with blackwater corp. get this: the Iraqi govt has complained for months about the heavy handed treatment by blackwater employees of Iraqi citizens. Like murdering them. Finaly the maliki govt demanded the expulsion of blackwater from iraq. The us govts response is hilarious. We wont allow it. King geo announces that the Iraqi govt has no jusisdiction over us employees. Would it be a fair question to ask, just who the Iraqi govt does have jurisdiction over, in their own country? But corporate media, being obedient lap dogs, never asks. King geo says blackwater stays, they stay. So much for the myth of an independent Iraqi govt. at first I thought this whole story might be a ploy to give the appearance of an independent Iraqi govt. you know, let the maliki gain respectability by actually doing something. Let em toss out blackwaters mercenaries, who then go off into the wings and change the names on their uniforms and return as employees of whitewater, or greenwater. But I was wrong. The bush cabal obviously doesn’t care what the world thinks of the legitimacy of maliki or his pseudo govt.

Next item: Well, the worlds economic meltdown is proceeding, in spite of the spin reported on corporate media. Last thurs bbc news featured the british economic minister reassuring all who would listen that he would never do anything not in the best interest of, of, my goodness, he forgot to mention just which portion of the british public he was protecting. Any guesses?

Next item: fairly often I get emails from listeners featuring articles about stunning breakthroughs in technologies to propel motor vehicles down the road. 100 mpg carburetors, super efficient spark plugs, convert your engine to run on water, or salt water was the latest. My experience and expertise with the internal combustion engine pretty much ended when they started cramming the engine compartment with weird devices proportedly designed to reduce smog. I was a hot rodder back in the 50’s and 60’s, but when I look under the hood today I cant recognize half of whats there. Im convinced its simply a plot to eliminate all possibility of an owner maintaining or repairing their own vehicle. So what re we to make of these claims of miracle technologies that keep surfacing? I know the reverse. I know that there have been no significant breakthroughs in the internal combustion engine offered by automakers since the turbo charger of the 1930’s. all those anti smog devices under your hood are band aids, not solutions. in light of the breadthroughs in other technologies, solid state elecronics, computers, lasers, Kevlar, television, nuclear energy, rockets to the moon and beyond, etc. it seems rather remarkable that nothing really new has been offered to propel your vehicle. Oh sure, there are attempts at alternates. Electric vehicles being the most promising, and the recent movie the death of the electric car seems to prove my point more than refute it. My point is that it seems rather suspicious that decades after the invention of the gasoline fueled internal combustion vehicle, we are still driving around in basically the same vehicle propelled by the same inefficient system. Now I certainly don’t wish to arouse mark stannearts aversions to conspiracy theories but it does seem suspicious that over the decades there have been almost continuous rumors of 100 mpg carburetors, super efficient spark plugs and various systems of cars running on water, as well as entirely revolutionary types of engines, etc etc and yet nothing appears in the market place. The only example I can think of is the above mentioned electric car which was pulled off of the showroom floors precisely because it was a successful breakthrough. Are all of these ideas and inventions baseless scams? Or is the rumor accurate that the oil companies and auto manufacturers buy off or scare off all competition to their stranglehold on our mode of transportation? these stories of high efficiency carburators, alternative fuels, alternative engines, etc have been around for decades. That fact alonet neither proves nor disproves any of them.  all we do know, is that in an age of incredible breakthrus and new technologies in so many areas, the internal combustion engine used in vehicles has had zero significent advances or breadthrus, while we are fed nonsense about govt piddling about with fuel efficiency standards, and the auto industry fighting implementation of those standards. Methinks the whole rigamarole over gasoline efficiency standards just might be a false issue occupying our attention when the real story lies elsewhere.  The whole thing smells to me, and I don’t mean the smell of burning hydrocarbons.

Next item: An article sent to me featured a terrific political poster, seen in various European cities. It features side by side photos of adolf Hitler and geo bush, and below them the words: same crap, different asshole.

Next item: Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book.
If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming. Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked.
In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: google (http://www.google.com/) Type your phone number in the search bar and hit enter. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact, but you may know someone who needs to know this. I tried this and its not a hoax. It works. Only problem is that google is not the only organization that offers this dubious service. You may have to do this on multiple sites

Next item: this is an email from bravenewfilms.org Dear activists, colleagues, and friends,

fox went to new lows in their analysis of Petraeus' testimony last week. When our friends at Media Matters let us know that they had 7 to 1 analysts in favor of escalation, it was hard to believe, even for FOX! 22 minutes supporting the escalation and only 3 and half against it. They went to such great lengths, they even cut away to Ann Coulter when Democrats questioned Petraeus! we argued amongst ourselves for two days about what we should do about it? What could we ask, encourage, motivate folks to do. Yelling at the TV screen not being a desired option. So we throw the question to you, our activists and media observers. What should be done about FOX? And given this ridiculous imbalance, should we encourage liberals and Democrats to stop going on FOX until the rules are fair, the deck is not stacked?

Next tiem: the pres of iran was invited to speak at Columbia university. This aroused great controversy. In the land of freedom of speech, it seems not all are to be granted that right. One listener sent me her letter of outrage at the pres of Columbia uni negative intro to the Iranian pres speech. I must disagree with my listener.   what usually happens in situations like this is that the offer to speak is withdrawn.  the col uni pres did not do that, altho there was trememndous pressure for him to do so, and that pressure was from some very powerful, influential groups, who contribute, or withhold contributions  to private universities .  i commend him for having the courage to honor his offer for AHMADINEJAD to speak.  i suspect his negative introductory speech was simply his covering his ass.  bottom line;  he could have cancelled his offer for any number of politically correct reasons.  Instead he allowed freedom of speech which in our political climate is a courageous act.
from borowitzreports.com: Facing ten felony counts after his ill-fated attempt to acquire sports memorabilia, O.J. Simpson announced today that he would attempt to reassemble the jury that found him not guilty in his 1995 murder trial.

Speaking to reporters in Las Vegas, the former football star said he would "spare no offense" to find the twelve jurors who set him free twelve years ago.

"This current case is a very complicated once – maybe even trickier than my murder trial," Mr. Simpson told reporters. "It’s important that we have a jury that really knows what they’re doing."

Mr. Simpson acknowledged that it might be difficult to locate all twelve of the jurors who found him innocent in 1995, but indicated that "all the time and the effort in the world" was worth it.

"Look, I’ve spent the last twelve years looking for my wife’s real killers," he said. "I can use some of that energy to look for those jurors."

Mr. Simpson said that in his new trial he would attempt to rekindle nostalgic feelings among the jurors by wearing the same suit he wore during the 1995 proceedings, adding, "If the suit does fit, they must acquit."

When asked what he plans to do if it proves impossible to reconstitute his 1995 jury, he said, "I’ll settle for Phil Spector’s."

As for his current scrape with the law, Mr. Simpson told reporters that he had already learned a valuable lesson: "Next time I want sports memorabilia, I’m going on eBay."

Elsewhere, Starbucks said it will give away 50 million free digital songs to its customers, but in keeping with Starbucks tradition, they will not be the songs the customers ordered.

More from berkowitzreports.com: Network Set to Launch ‘Kid Detention’: Fresh on the heels of their reality show "Kid Nation," in which children are sent to perform hard labor on a ranch with no adult supervision, CBS announced today that it was readying a new reality show in which children are sent to the federal detention camp at Guantanamo. The new program, called "Kid Detention," is expected to be ready for broadcast in time for November sweeps, with the following promotional slogan: "One detention camp. Forty kids. No lawyers." CBS said that filming would begin as soon as forty children are "randomly rounded up."

Within hours of its announcement, CBS found itself under fire from the organization Amnesty International, who warned of possible human rights violations if the children are sent to Guantanamo. In an attempt to rebuff such criticism, CBS spokesperson Carol Foyler attempted to dismiss Amnesty International’s complaint that the kids at Guantanamo would not be permitted to have lawyers. "We want to recreate the experience of being detainees, and of course that means no lawyers," Ms. Foyler said. "Besides, just like the other detainees, these kids haven’t been charged with any crime." If "Kid Detention" takes off in the ratings as expected, Ms. Foyler said, the network was considering launching another series, "Kid Rendition," in which the children are flown to Egypt for further questioning. Elsewhere, after the president of Columbia University called him a "petty and cruel dictator," Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denied the existence of Columbia University. Elsewhere, President Bush refuted Alan Greenspan’s charge that he seemed "bored" by economics, telling reporters, "I’m much more bored by education, health care and the environment."
