latest commentary, visit: www.rabblerousing.org."
Kvmr news director Mike Thornton wishes to remind us that there
are always "scammers" who seek to capitalize on
tragedy. He warns us to be very careful about so-called
charities and 'funds' that say they are collecting money for
Tahoe fire victims! It would be a shame if people gave money to
try and help only to get burned by some crook !!! my
thoughts: disasters always bring out the best and sometimes the
worst in people. food and clothing is hard to abuse, and easy to
distribute to the needy. Cash donations on the other hand are
easily shifted to the wrong pockets and one must question how
the money is to be used or distributed.
next item: this mornings kvmr news included the swearing
in ceremony of a new county official. In it he was required to
pledge to uphold and support the constitutions of both the
united states and the state of calif. Every govt official, on
every level, must swear alligience to both constitutions.
Judging by the actions of the bush cabal, and the congress, what
happens once elected or appointed, is another matter. I find it
simply incredible that bush and cheney are not impeached simply
for blatently breaking their sworn oath to uphold and defend the
constitution.
Next item: in that vein we bring you the Latest silliness
from our nations capital: Vice President Exempts His Office from
the Requirements for Protecting Classified Information
Chairman henry Waxman writes that his congressional Oversight
Committee has learned that over the objections of the National
Archives, Vice President Cheney exempted his office from the
presidential order that establishes government-wide procedures
for safeguarding classified national security information. In
his letter to the Vice President, Chairman Waxman writes:
"I question both the legality and wisdom of your actions.
... It would appear particularly irresponsible to give an office
with your history of security breaches an exemption from the
safeguards that apply to all other executive branch
officials." The Vice President had an interesting reply to
that one. Vp cheney asserts that his office is not an
"entity within the executive branch." Ok dickie poo,
If your office is not part of the executive branch, just what
part of govt do you think it resides in? far as I know, there is
no officially declared branch of dictatorship, yet.
When various letters were ignored, the National Archives wrote
to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in January 2007 to seek a
resolution of the impasse. The Vice President's staff responded
by seeking to abolish the agency within the Archives that is
responsible for implementing the President's executive order.
And good ole alberto did what he always does when faced with a
sticky legal problem that does not favor the administration. He
ignored it.
more silliness: this from wash dc publication- the hill. House
Judiciary Committee Democrats warned yesterday they would pursue
a contempt of Congress motion if the White House fails respond
to subpoenas for testimony and documents related to the firings
of U.S. attorneys last year.
The deadline for a response is Thursday, June 28. If the White
House does not comply, it opens the possibility of a
constitutional showdown between the two branches. In an ironic
twist, the Department of Justice (DoJ) would be called on to
enforce the contempt motion. Let me remind listeners that the
doj is headed by attny gen alberto, , Gonzales aka bushes
favorite poodle. Show of hands now: how many think the doj will
do a cracker jack job of forcing various white house officials
to testify before congress? Oh goodie. Months of bs later, we
just might have a few sacrificial lambs testifying in secret but
not under oath. Couldn’t have that. Couldn’t have govt
officials testifying under oath now could we? You got to love
it-Justice, bush and cheney style.
Democrats have been unsatisfied with the testimony they’ve
heard so far from top officials and former officials at the DoJ,
including Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Under questioning,
all have said either that their roles were limited or that they
were not directly responsible for suggesting certain U.S.
attorneys be placed on the firing list. Because of these claims,
Conyers said, Democrats’ only choice is to seek more
information from the White House.
you got to love john conyers. He may be powerless to actually
do anything, but he does have the rare courage to try, and he is
sometimes even poetic in his public utterances. Here is his
latest gem "We want to know where the lines go from the DoJ
to the White House," he said. "That’s where these
bread crumbs keep leading us and then they get lost in the snow
or something."
Next item: The Center for American Progress and Free Press
recently released the first-of-its-kind
statistical analysis of the political make-up of talk radio
in the United States. It confirms that talk radio, one of the
most widely used media formats in America, is dominated almost
exclusively by conservatives.
Some key findings: – In the spring of 2007, of the 257
news/talk stations owned by the top five commercial station
owners, 91 percent of the total weekday talk radio
programming was conservative, and only 9 percent was
progressive. Lets not overlook the first part of that
statement: 257 news/talk stations are owned by 5 owners. That is
the problem right there. the article continues:
– Each weekday, there was 10 times as much
conservative talk as progressive talk.
– 76 percent of the news/talk programming in the
top 10 radio markets is conservative, while 24 percent
is progressive. One problem with this sort of survey is how
does one characterize various shows. For example, is rabble
rousing progressive, or conservative, or liberal, or
libertarian, or just plain confusing? My opinion is that it is
all of the above.
The article continues by stating that we need to return
ownership of the airwaves to the people, but fails to address
how in hell we are supposed to achieve it. Next time you contact
your elected reps you might want to ask them for congressional
investigations into this matter and perhaps suggest abolishing
the fcc entirely and replacing it with a body truly dedicated to
returning the public airwaves back to the public. The fcc as it
is today is a sham and a fraud. Just one more politically
corrupted federal agency serving the elitists rather than the
people.
Next item: Leonard matlovich was gay. He was a combat veteran
of viet nam, and later died from hiv-aids complications in 1988
at age 45. the epitaph he chose for his tombstone serves as a
powerful reminder of how insane the American military policy is
regarding gays in the military and by reflection, another
example of how insane is American society. His tombstone reads "When
I was in the military, they gave me a medal for killing two men
and a discharge for loving one."

Next item: if you doubt that you govt could take away your
right to purchase and take vitamins and supplements, then you
seriously underestimate the political power of the big
pharmaceutical corporations, and you might soon be in for a very
rude shock. . your right to chose alternative medicine
procedures and vitamins supplements is still under attack. For
