first item. I have a bumper sticker that reads "john conyers is my congressman". Why? He has been a champion for ending the war in iraq now, not after the 2008n elections but now. bring the troops home now, before more get killed or maimed. he has been in the forefront of the battle to expose the massive voter fraud in the last elections. He has spoken out forcefully for impeachment now. In short, while the democratic leadership postures and pontificates, he is calling for action now. He seems to represent the ideals of the real democratic party. his latest email is indicative. He has introduced hr 626 which is a plan for national single payer heath insurance for all Americans. If you want to join him in this battle for national health care, visit his web site www.johnconyers.com conversely, if you oppose his ideas, go there and tell him so.

Next item: dennis kuchinch, the presidential candidate who receives no press whatsoever, has introduced a resolution calling for the impeachment of dick cheney. Interesting tactic. Forget about the figurehead, king geo the feeble minded. Go after the real power behind the throne. One must ask how far his resolution must go before mainstream media acknowledges his presence.

Next item: well after the latest incident of a deranged person using guns to vent his madness, and nearby yuba city having its own meth deranged wacko threatening similar madness, gun control is back in the news. im left wondering if the gun ownership advocates and the nra will ever admit that some sort of gun control is necessary to keep guns out of the hands of clearly deranged individuals. Im left remembering our own local scott Thorpe, who clearly should have never been allowed to possess a gun, finally going mental and killing several very innocent people. And scotts brother was in sac law enforcement, knew his brother had weapons, and seemingly couldn’t do anything to get the guns away from his obviously sick brother. Let us keep firmly in mind that when the creators of our constitution added the 2nd amendment right to own firearms, they did not have squirrel hunting in mind. They fully understood that the greatest danger to an American’s freedom is our own govt. I am a firm believer in our 2nd amendment rights to keep weapons in case our govt gets entirely out of control, but there does appear to be strong argument for some sort of restrictions on the right to own weapons by clearly mentally ill persons. Will the supposed gun grabbers and the nra ever sit down at a table and negotiate? Both sides claim im right, your wrong, and there is no room for discussion and compromise. This is a vital dialog that sadly, never takes place.

Next item: if it interests you to read the wide range of opinions held by nev co citizens, or at least readers of the gv union, check out the comments to the unions article on the district attny’s public meeting concerning medical mj. Some readers are just opposed to mj period, and go to some interesting lengths to justify their position. It has been rumored that some elements of local law enforcement have a similar unbending position. Meanwhile, meth continues to threaten our community. One must ask, when law enforcement is continually crying that they don’t have the money nor manpower they need, why there is this focus on marijuana when it is so clear that meth usage and mfgr in our county represents a far more serious problem. Pot users may eat too much and often get too mellow to produce up to the standards of our capitalist system. They may well represent a danger to themselves, but they don’t tend to amass guns and threaten to make va tech seem like a playground. Meth is the problem folks. You might want to insist that your elected and hired law enforcers pay more attention to meth and let the potheads alone. Of the several arguments against patients growing their medicine the one that strikes me as most suspicious is the argument that citizens object to the smell of their neighbors pot garden, and that they might even be allergic to the fumes. Interesting argument. My question is where does this one end? Garlic smells, roses smell, lots of plants smell. My bad smell might be your favorite fragrance. Allergies? Ask local doctors. Which local plants cause the most allergic reactions? Oak and pine pollen seem to be the worst offenders. Some people are allergic to scotch broom. Others love its yellow flowers. After we get rid of the neighbors pot garden shall we then force neighbors to cut down their oaks and pines? Pave the county I say, and outlaw everything I don’t like. What ever happened to neighbors getting together in mutual respect and trying to work out win win situations? I guess we as a nation are truly following our leaders. Negotiations be damned. Might makes right. You don’t like em, bomb em. Another argument against mj that puzzles me is the one that some medical cannibis patients are using their medicine for recreation rather than severe pain management. Why is this an issue? Who cares? If your neighbor uses anything that lessens their level of stress, makes them happier, how does this harm you? Speaking for myself, I want my neighbors, in fact everyone I encounter, to be as stress free and happy as they can possibly be, and as long as they don’t harm anyone else I couldn’t care less how they got there. if you don’t pollute my lungs with your 2nd hand smoke, you are free to cultivate lung cancer with your nicotine cigarettes, and if you can avoid driving while drunk, or getting into fights over stupid issues, go right ahead and drink yourself into a stupor. What you do to your own body is no ones business but yours. Its really quite simple. Everyone should be free to do whatever they want with their own bodies as long as they don’t harm others. It seems to me that there is a lot of talk about what are essentially moral issues. Its hard to avoid the conclusion that some people just resent other people being happy.

One more argument from the anti cannibis folks. This is possibly the most controversial. Some people with dr recommendation are selling their excess and making money. Again, so what? If they are selling to minors, I agree, that is wrong and dangerous. But if they are selling to consenting adults, who does it harm? Local businesses? Give me a break. From what I hear, Most of the money goes right back into the local economy. Isn’t that how our system works? People make money, then spend it, so that others make money which they then spend. As to the rumor that money from cannibis sales contributes to methamphetime production and/or usage, sorry, that dog wont hunt. Meth users are out of control and probably use every substance they can get their hands on. Every cannibis user ive ever met stays as far away from meth as they possibly can. Back when I lived in the height ashbury, we had two entirely separate communities. The speed freaks and the cannabis and lsd users. There was almost no interface between the two communities. Cannibis is about as much of a gateway drug to harder drugs as is mothers milk or tap water. Its time we as a community got real about what our problems are, and what they are not. Lets not waste our time energy and money chasing false issues. Hopefully our new distrct attny will lead us down the path of sanity. He seems open to hearing your views. I suggest you Communicate with him. This is a fairly controversial issue, so please keep in mind that my opinions are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of kvmr management staff or contributors. That is the strength and beauty of community radio. We have a pledge drive coming up in a few weeks; please remember your freedom to speak out on important issues is the foundation of kvmr. Support your ability to hear and speak out on issues that concern you by supporting kvmr. Get your funds together and donate to kvmr during our upcoming pledge drive.

Next item. Last week I read you an alert concerning the threat to your rights to alternative medicine, including vitamins and supplements. You have until this coming Monday apr 30th to register your opinion on this issue with the fda. For more info go to www. heathfreedomusa.org

Next item: remember monica Goodling? No not monica Lewinsky, you retards, the new monica, aid to embattled attny gen alberto poodle Gonzales. She was the one who recently threatened to use her 5th amendment right to avoid incriminating herself, if called to tell congress what she knows about the firing of those federal prosecutors. Well, congress felt that she had such important information that it just granted her imunity.. will this be the scadal that finally brings down Teflon karl rove? Stay tuned. Unless of course some other guy goes wacko and shoots karl, alberto and friends and their troubles right off of the news. America is in love with reality tv shows that pretend to simulate life and death situations. Meanwhile, in wash dc every day features Politics as blood sport. Wake up america, your missing something. When are dennis Kucinich or john conyers going to be on American idol? American tv watchers seem to have their collective heads firmly up their backsides, while our govt staggers on.

Hey what ever happened to the recent scandal over the dog ate all those gop emails? Oh, yeah. Va tech. Convenient wasn’t it?
