An independent companion site to the weekly radio show: Rabble Rousing, with host Chamba Lane

 December 6, 2006

Today's edition of Rabble Rousing is hosted by John Fletcher while Chamba is away at an undisclosed location to the south.

There is to the south of our nation a struggle for the soul of a nation that
should fire the imagination of freedom loving people everywhere. The problem
is the freedom loving people of the United States have all but ignored this
drama of democracy.

The brave and noble people of Oaxaca Mexico are standing up for their human
rights and demanding the governor or their state step down. Their demands
have been met with violent force yet they persist. They are led by teachers
who have been joined by Oaxacans from all professions whose goal is for a
decent and free life; their courage should be an example for people
everywhere.

Unfortunately we gringos are too lazy and complacent to put up the struggle
our sisters and brothers to the south are mounting. We are too involved with
celebrity worship and whatever inane reality television show to even
consider raising our voices to the powers that be. Too much trouble.

I am afraid that the good old USof A is bound for what Marx described as the
dust bin of history a dumpster of the damned befitting a society driven by
greed and arrogance and blind to desire of others to simply live free.
