next item: file this under "why politics is such
entertaining stuff": mark foley is a republican congressman
from florida who is chair of a quite important committee and has
just resigned when it was discovered that he had been sending
emails to an under aged page to solicit sex from said youth. The
committee he chaired? Im glad you asked. The house caucus
concerned with the exploitation of children. You know you just
cant make this stuff up. That’s right. The guy chairs the
republican house of representatives caucus against exploitation
of children and he is caught exploiting children. Or perhaps he
didn’t consider soliticing sex from an underaged boy to be
exploitation of children. If so, it sort of makes you wonder
what this guys definition of exploitation is, does it not? Then
there is the question of how he got chosen for his position as
chair of that committee? . welll, perhaps we shouldn’t ask. .
Well since I wrote this, things got even more entertaining.
First, in a brilliant political ploy, it was announced that the
dear congressman had a drinking problem and was entering alcohol
rehab. As if his alleged drinking problem explains his behavior,
and his entering rehab solves the problem and everything will be
nicey nice, and we can move onto other matters, such as how much
money king geo is raising for his faithful calif boys Richard
Pombo and john Doolittle. If I was an alcoholic I would be
insulted to be linked with foley. There is a great benefit to
republicans in foley being in rehab. He is unavailable to be
interviewed. Whats the bet that he will be conveniently in rehab
and unavailable for interviews until after the nov election? But
it gets better still. The spin as of tues was that poor foley
had been molested as a teenager, by a, gasp, clergyman no less,
the implication being of course that that experience made him
gay and resulted in his less than exemplary behavior. If alcohol
wont work as an excuse, lets try his being a victim. Maybe that
one will fly. And the next shoe to drop was the revelation that
speaker of the house dennis hasstert had knowledge of these
incriminating emails over a year ago and did….. and did….,
you got it. He did nothing. Hasstert at first claimed that he
only learned about foleys indescritions when the story came out
last week. Only 2 problems. 2 different republican congressmen
essentially called hasstert a lier by stating they each had
seperatly told hem much earlier. Hasstert then changed his story
and admitted he might have been told, but get this, he forgot.
Right. You are speaker of the house and your informed that one
of your guys is sending very sexually explicit emails to
underaged males, and you forgot? That’s got to be the funniest
story to come out of wash dc since geo bushs latest attempt at
extemporaneous speaking. There is more. Lastest news this morn
is that hasstert didn’t exactly do nothing. travus t hipp
reported this morn that after hasstert got the news, months
back, He met with several other gop leaders and arranged for
$100,000 to be donated the fla gop committee. And then
everyone did nothing. Now that’s inspiring leadership. Govt by
the bush crowd, you got to love it. Like I said before, you cant
make this stuff up. If you saw this sleazy scenario in a movie
youd throw your popcorn box at the screen and walk out. Too
unbelievable.
Next item: all regular listeners must guess by now that im a
loyal republican and so it should come as no surprise that im
getting really worried we might lose control of the legislative
branch of govt in the nov election,. What with this messy foley
scandal, the continuing revelations of jolly jack abramahof and
his amusing habit of bribing our esteemed legislators, the news
continually leaking out about the on going disaster of our folly
in iraq, military men beginning to publicaly question the
leadership of king geo and his boy Donnie rumsfeld, and now a
leading republican, I think it was tom delay,
first flying off to Afghanistan and then flying off at the mouth
by stating what any sensible person has known for months. That
being that our war there with the Taliban is un winnable. Not
just going badly, but un winnable . And that’s from a
republican leader. It seems that since he has decided not to run
for re election, he finds himself finally free to tell the
truth. So as a loyal republican, Im really worried that we haven’t
purged enuff democrats from voter rolls, and don’t have
sufficient secretly programmable electronic voting machines in
place to steal this election. I mean lets face it, fellow
republicans, Having to contest a fair election in nov could just
spoil our whole next two years
Next itme: a listner sent this in off of the free market news
network: Here’s their article which they labeled "high
alert". A faithful reader and commentator, "A.
Magnus" writes the following email, posted to FMNN General
Feedback: "Do you like October surprises? Is there a big
bang coming to hit the markets? If you believe that those in the
know use insider information before major events then you might
be interested on the HUGE number of October 6th put options for
the big indexes. Check out the concentrated puts on the Diamonds
DOW Trust (DIA): he then lists links to several sources. Even
the Market Vectors Gold Miners has significant puts for October
6th: he then lists that link. Make no mistake - something wicked
is coming this way, and the smart money has already taken
preventative steps.". that’s from free market news
network. Not exactly a liberal publication. Hum. Does that mean
that rabble rousing is not a liberal mouthpiece? That Kvmr is
not the bastion of liberal thinking that some like to believe?
Labels, labels. A convenient way to marginalize and avoid
critical thinking.
Next item: kvmr has lately been replaying steve bakers live
interview with your elected congressional rep Doolittle and I
just love the part where baker asks big john about his ties with
disgraced lobbyist jack abramoff, and Doolittle explains that
abramahof couldn’t be the bad guy he is portrayed to be
because, get this, abramahof is a devout orthodox jew. Now if
that’s not playing the religious card I don’t know what is.
Yeah, that abramahof. Hes a scoundrel, but hes a devout
religious scoundrel. I found doolittles non replies to bakers
other questions to be fascinating. You listen and then decide
for yourself. While we are on the subject, in this nov election,
charlie brown is challenging Doolittle for his 4th
district congressional seat. Several months ago brown challenged
Doolittle to a series of debates, so the public could get
perspective on where each stood on various issues. Doolittle,
being a consummate politician, took the politically correct
stance by agreeing to the debates and then took the politically
expedient tactic of refusing to actually debate while avoiding
even mentioning the subject. Id like to report that Doolittle
has finally agreed to a time and place to debate charlie brown.
I like to, but I cant, because to date, Doolittle continues to
avoid debating charlie brown. Doolittle has time to appear with
king geo in el dorado hills to raise still more money for his
war chest, but he doesn’t have time to publicly debate his
opponent charlie brown so the voters can make an informed
choice. Whats up cong Doolittle? Why are you afraid to debate
charlie brown? The voters might remember that come this nov.
next item: a listener writes: Sometime when you've got an
hour, turn off Survivor and the ER reruns, pour some coffee or
wine, and let Mr. Morgan Reynolds refresh your education. Who is
Morgan Reynolds, PhD – Chief Economist, U.S. Department
of Labor under George W. Bush 2001-2002. Former Director
of the Criminal Justice Center at the National Center for Policy
Analysis. Professor Emeritus, Economics, Texas A&M
University. In this 57 min video, He speaks at length about his
experience in the Bush administration, his studied conclusion
that 9-11 was an inside job, the history of other black ops in
America, and what we can and should do to take our country back
from this "rogue network" of neo-Nazi jackals. I think
his assertion that the attack on Iran may unfold after some kind
of provoked or staged Gulf of Tonkin incident is dead on, as is
his observation that "the inert American public doesn't
want to look in the closet--there might be a monster
there." Exactly--and that is why the jackals are confident
they can keep getting away with these deadly end runs around the
Constitution, from JFK through Iran-Contra to 9-11. This time,
though, they may have gone too far. The video is 57 minutes long
: link is to complicated to read on air. It will be on my
website. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8180123292618944278
next item: along with all the bad news, there is occasional
good news. its just that mainstream media choses not to feature
it. If you are a medical marijuana patient here is some good
news: Drug Policy Alliance Wins Fight on Medical Marijuana
Expenses in California. DPA's Office of Legal Affairs achieved a
victory for California patients this week after a protracted
legal battle. As a result of a court decision
on September 25, indigent medical marijuana patients in
California who receive public assistance benefits through the
Department of Health Services may qualify for reimbursement of
the cost of their medicine.
The decision, written on behalf of the (DHS), made clear that
DHS policy is to permit reimbursement of medical marijuana
claims for patients who receive public assistance from that
agency. DHS's administrative court also made clear that federal
marijuana laws do not prevent the state agency from honoring
California's medical marijuana law and enforcing department
policy.
This means that medical marijuana patients receiving public
assistance benefits through DHS may qualify for reimbursement of
reasonable, documented expenses incurred in obtaining their
physician-recommended marijuana.
