Sept 27 commentary: "For links to the articles I read on
the air, guest websites, archived shows, my commentaries, a
listener's discussion forum, and the text of Mark Stanneart’s
latest commentary, visit: www.rabblerousing.org."
There is good news for those of you previously terrorized by
our govts war on terrorism. The headline: U.S. to Relax Air
Travel Restrictions. The text: WASHINGTON (AP) -- The
government is partially lifting its ban against carrying liquids
and gels onto airliners "We now know enough to say that a
total ban is no longer needed from a security point of
view," said some official sounding muck tee muck. He said
that most liquids and gels that air travelers purchase in secure
areas of airports will now be allowed on planes. He called the
new procedures a "common sense" approach that would
maintain a high level of security at airports but ease
conditions for passengers. Please note that he said most
liquids and gels. Not all, but most. Of course he did not
specify which ones would be allowed and which banned or even
what criteria would be used to differentiate the two. Makes for
quite a guessing game does it not? You are packing for your trip
and you get to guess if your stuff will be allowed or banned. Ah
well, on with the article: That means that after passengers go
through airport security checkpoints, they can purchase liquids
at airport stores and take them onto their planes. New
procedures also were announced for toiletries and products like
lip gloss and hand lotion that passengers bring to the airport.
Previously, those liquids have been confiscated at security
checkpoints. Now, these products will be limited to 3-ounce
sizes and must fit in a clear, 1-quart size plastic bag. The
bags will be screened and returned if they are cleared. Again,
no mention of how they will determine if your 3 oz of hand
lotion is actually explosive. Attention potential terrorists.
Please insure that if you are bringing explosive liquid devices
onto airliners, you must limit your explosives to 3 ounces or
less and must have them in a clear plastic bag. Oh goodie,
Homeland security to the rescue. Im sure you all feel so much
more secure now. Question: how can any sane person take any of
this seriously?
Next headline off of the gv unions choice of ap articles to
feature: us army extends iraq duty for 4000. no need read the
article. 4000 more soldiers got lied to and screwed. And only
their loved ones care. Next article the union considered
important enuff to pick up: "pope doesn’t dwell on
remarks in meeting". We all know what the remarks were. The
media made sure of that. This whole story of one religious
leaders insensitive remarks about another religion would be
laughable until we realize that some gullible people still
listen to religious leaders. While im on the subject, does
anyone else find it curious that no one ever mentions the
obvious continual bias of the media in always reporting what the
leader of one of the worlds many religions has to say, while
seldom ever mentioning the words or actions of any of the other
worlds religious leaders. In short, why do the catholics and
their pope get more coverage than any other religion, and why is
this never called media bias in favor of one religion over the
others? In our media, If the pope passes gas, its news worth
reporting.
Next item: stretch your memories and recall that before we
had king george the feeble minded and his deliteful consort big
dick cheney, we were entertained, excuse me, led by slick willy
and his charming wife hillary. Well don’t look now but the
Clintons are at it again. Recall that just after the Clintons
election, hillary came out as champion of national health, and
promptly totally sabotaged that cause. She pretended to examine
all proposals while in actual fact completely ignoring the one
successful system, that being the Canadian style single payer
system. Instead she came up with a proposal guaranteed to be
defeated, as of course it was. So the Clintons appeared to be
champions of national health while in fact being just the
opposite. That was political brilliance; . to the masses they
appeared politically correct, while the real power brokers
smiled at and approved their chicanery. Well, recent news is
that slick willy has just come out as a champion of the
environement, getting very publically involved in some
organization concerned with global warming. Yeah for slick willy.
And isn’t it merely a coincidence that his wifey poo, dear
hillary, is positioning herself to run for president in 2 years?
Now factor in that a potential rival for the dem nomination for
pres is al gore, who recently got so much great pub with his
movie on the same subject. I smell a large rat in slick willy’s
sudden interest in a very politically correct cause. Excuse me,
two large rats.
Next item: Nevada city council almost passed a resolution
advocating the impeachment of king george and his merry band of
liars and thieves. It lost 3-2. the leader of the movement, kent
smith, spoke eloquently in favor of its passage and stated that
even tho the proposal lost, it was important to bring the issue
to the public. I thought that councilwoman Barbara Coffman had
an important point in that the group did not ask the grass
valley nor Nevada county boards to consider the same resolution.
Those efforts would have failed of course, but it would have
opened up the debate to more people. And of course behind the
scene is always money. Nev city needs money, and local
businesses drive the engine of local govt. so the question must
be asked. Do local businesses care more about the demise of our
constitution or their bottom line? My bottom line? : it was
entertaining, and I find it refreshing that any public forum
actually addresses the issue of getting rid of king george. I
think it would be highly entertaining to present this issue to
the nev co board of sups and hear what our sups have to say.
Would they defend king geo and his merry band or simply retreat
behind "its not our place to speak out"? and that begs
the question: if its not our elected leaders place to speak out,
whose place is it? And the answer is: its all of our
responsibility. Every one of us. Its our constitution. If you
want to keep it, do something. The nov election is an
opportunity. Make sure you are registered, and make sure you
vote. If you don’t, there will be an election soon where your
vote truly wont matter, because a secret electronic process has
already determined the outcome.
Next item: some guy wrote a lengthy letter to military
families, military communities, I found a few paragraphs
interesting so I offer them to you now: here it is: I would
respectfully say this: the problem with these people, the
problem with the President, the Vice President, the
neoconservatives and the Republican Congress is that they are
political ideologues, who treat war as theory, because they lack
experience in practice. They are hard core political partisans,
who show contempt for commanders when the voice of experience
contradicts the ambitions of their politics. They play to win
elections, not knowing how to win a war, which the combined
intelligence agencies of the American government, now warn they
are in danger of losing.
To military families, military communities, I would
respectfully propose this: if Demcrats are elected to Congress,
what will happen on the morning after the election, is that
reasonable people in both parties will sit down, with each
other, with our commanders, with respect and goodwill, and begin
to plan a way out of this mess. Together. The choice this
November is not between a Republican policy versus a Democratic
policy. The choice this November is whether we have two more
years of one party government and continuation of the status
quo, or whether we have two party government, three branches of
government, and a renewed spirit of national unity, and national
purpose.
Next item: and then we have mark droulettes take on things:
its titled: | Report's
startling conclusion: bombing people really pisses them off.
He begins: Whew! I'm glad
that's been cleared up. I'm talking about the "consensus
view of the 16 disparate [American] spy services" as
provided in the recently-disclosed National Intelligence
Estimate [NIE], a classified U.S. government assessment compiled
in April "that concluded the [Iraq] war has helped create a
new generation of Islamic radicalism... I wont read any further.
Sometimes the truth is so evident that any further words are
redundant. But one fact bears repeating. That report was
complied several years ago. If it was true then, is it more or
less true now? And our leaders response? Shelve the report and
silence the reporters. Democracy, neocon style, you got to love
it.
Final item: your friendly mainstream media undoubtedly
mentioned hugo chavez speech to the un. It might even have
offered you a bit more than his denunciation of your favorite
dictator as a devil. But did it bother to tell you of the
listening delegates response to chavez brave words? Was it
stunned silence? Hisses and boos? Or loud cheers and standing
ovation? If you only follow mainstream media, you will never
know.
