Well it seems to me like a slow news week, unless you enjoy
the charade of congress going thru the motions of pretending to
scrutinize king georges latest nominee for supreme court
justice. Does anyone really believe Samuel alito is the best
choice for one of the most important positions in us govt? a
more pertenant ques is why it should be a presidential
appointment in the first place. Is this an absurd system or
what? No one seems to question why they cant seem to find a
judge who is qualified and yet not obviously biased. Its simply
taken for granted that any appointee is seriously biased and
therefore flawed. As I have stated many times before, the united
states has a first world economy, a first world military, and a
3rd world system of govt.
The other news of note this week can be filed under the
heading: local boy makes good. Our own beloved congressman john
Doolittle made national news with the revelation that he was
amongst the beneficiaries of large sums of money from disgraced
lobbiest jack abramoff. Please note that big john gave no favors
in return, such as voting in favor of legislation favoring
abramoffs clients, or passing on some of that money to other
legislators for purposes unknown and unspoken. Perish the
thought. Abramoff gave Doolittle the money simply because he
thinks Doolittle is a really swell guy. Well, im also a really
swell guy, and so im eagerly awaiting abramaoffs check in my
mail box. Are you expecting your check too? I had to laugh at
the gv union’s quoting local gop honcho tony gilcrease
extolling the virtues of his boy Doolittle. Its sort of like the
pot calling the kettle chromium. Tony baby, you can call it what
you want, it still smells from here. Credit Doolittle with a
shrude political move. He claims he did nothing wrong and he aint
returnin no money to no one no how. How do you like dem
apples?
So, that’s what passes for news this week. Meanwhile, in
the semi real world: lets play "whatever happened to":
I know its hard to remember last weeks major stories. With our
short term memory impairment, the ongoing media bombardment of
the latest whatever, while somehow forgetting to follow up on
last weeks major stories, its almost impossible to even remember
what they told us last week was major news. But lets try: how
bout Patrick Fitzgerald, Valerie plame, joe Wilson, and good ole
karl rove ? Remember that one? So wha’s happinin bro?
Gazillions of taxpayers dollars are spent and the result is:
drum roll please: one low level flunky is persuaded to fall on
his sword. Bfd. Justice in America? Gag me with a spoon.
How bout our cool vice pres appearing before congress to
plead for the right to continue torturing prisoners? The world
shudders, and our media slumbers. But excuse me, that was last
weeks news. Except for our prisoners, who are still being
tortured.
How bout them downing st memos? In a just world, we would be
in a race to see if we could impeach king geo and dick cheney
faster than the british got rid of tony blair. Instead we have:
nothing. Absolutely nothing. A few more republicans woke up to
the fact that their golden haired boys are first class
scoundrels, but do they care? Meanwhile the American media and
the people who believe them slumber. Anthrax. Whatever happened
to the fbi investigation of who sent anthrax to key democratic
leaders, at a most interesting time? It was revealed that the
anthrax could not have been made by terrorists. It had to have
been made in the usa, had to have come from military funded
labs. Suddenly, the story was dropped. Disappeared. It never
happened. Oops, I just typed a paradox in terms. A flaw in
logic. I linked the words fbi and investigate. Sorry.
And then we have all the scientific types slowly coming to
the conclusion and having the chutzpah to publish that the world
trade center towers defied all laws of physics by falling as
they did, at the speed they did. Couple that with the further
embarrassment that the govt doesn’t even bother to concoct a
story explaining why or how wtc tower 7 fell, when it wasn’t
even damaged. "It fell, so what, now get on with your
life and don’t bother us with questions". Yes sir, how
high sir? And may I have permission to come down sir?
Say, did anyone ever find geo bushes missing military
service records? How curious that they went missing. Did anyone
ever look?
And finally, my favorite. Whatever happened to those 4
christian do gooders who went missing in iraq, just at a time
when king geo and his puppet masters were facing some
embarrassment or another. The spin was that they were kidnapped
by Islamic insurgents. You know, the bad guys. I doubted that
story when it first was offered to us, but its looking even more
suspicious as time goes by. Why would insurgents kidnap anyone
and then not use them to make some sort of point. Why bother to
kidnap them and then feed and house them, for no purpose. If the
kidnappers were indeed Islamic boogie men, they would have
either publicly beheaded them, or magnanimously turned them
loose, garnering valuable publicity of one sort or the other.
Instead we are supposed to believe the victims simply
disappeared. Sorry, I aint buyin them apples. Something is weird
about that whole story. But the media ignores follow-ups, and
forges on with the latest nonsense. And my number one smoke
screen of the week? Impeachment. Fa ged about it. The very
politicos who would have to vote for impeachment are the ones
whose political careers are completely intertwined with the
clowns they would be impeaching. It aint gonna happen. We don’t
have the votes. King geo could do anything, absolutely anything,
and congress would not vote to impeach. The sad fact is that in
present day amerika, treason is not an impeachable offense.
Just heard on npr news that Turkish authorities, fearing bird
flu, are advising citizens to avoid dead poultry. Boy am I glad
that us health authorities aren’t giving us similar warnings.
Avoid dead poultry? When is the last you ate a
live chicken? I prefer mine to be dead. Really dead. Cooked too.
Ok, that’s my quick list of forgotten or neglected stories.
Im sure you have yours.
A word of warning: kvmr has a pledge drive coming up in a few
weeks. Start saving your money. Kvmr , in its profound lack of
wisdom, is giving me 2 hours for a pledge drive special. If you
don’t become members, or otherwise pledge vast amounts of
money during my 2 hour show, im going to be really cranky. You
haf been varned.
