This threat to mankind has reportedly killed 60 people in asia over a 2 year span. That’s not 60 deaths per day. That’s 60 people over 2 yrs. Sorry folks, that’s not only not an epidemic, its not even worth mentioning. Im sure that over 2 years, more than 60 people throughout asia have died while having sex. Does that mean we should stop having sex because it’s a dangerous epidemic? But the American sec of defense Donald rumsfeld, is a major stockholder of the company that gets royalties from sales of tamiflu, the supposed vaccine against the latest menace avian flu. And then we have a cogent comment on a web site in response to an article on rumsfelds stock holdings. - the patent is held by Gilead Sciences. In '97, none-other-than, Don Rumsfeld was named as Chairman of the Board of Gilead Sciences until he became Defense Sec. in 2001. He reportedly is the single largest individual stock holder to this day. Don't worry about him though, instead of selling his stock, he has instead told us how he has nothing to do with government medical decisions. Rummy believes most Americans are complete Idiots.
Wake up people! There may indeed by a potential pandemic sometime down the road, but minimally, it is some time off(a year or more based on information I have reviewed) and can be controlled much /better than is being portrayed in the news. What you are being exposed to now is misinformation and color coded terror warnings to draw your minds away from issues that should be on the top of the pile - and, of course, to enrich men like Don Rumsfeld. They are hyping bird flu to enrich themselves through their stock holdings that most Americans don't know about and will never connect. There are serious conflicts of interest here and that alone should be enough for most of us to figure out what is really going on.
Was it last year or the year before that they tried to scare us with similar stuff at the same time of year? Let's see, it was SARS, then West Nile, and then Monkey Pox. They were all hyped in a short time period and I remember going around telling people I had "West-Monkey-SARS" because I knew they were all B.S. scare tactics. I haven't heard about much since then.
Do they exist and kill? Well, I have heard of a few cases of West Nile, but I also heard about way more people getting hit by lightning, being in car accidents, dying of cancer, drowning, etc. - should we cower in fear because a Red-Sign on tv tells us to be afraid of getting in a car accident or getting cancer from going in the Sun too much or doing any of the things we love that could be considered "dangerous"?

I believe the men in office are using real and contrived events, combined with hyperbole or outright lies, to further their personal, military, ideological and economic goals - they can't do it without scaring us, which leads to manipulation of markets and opinions.
Think about it - the Feds are running around telling everyone to get all "hyped-up" about this thing - that behavior insinuates that the problem is not real (but it certainly does make Tamiflu and Gilead stock cost more and make guys like Rummy more wealthy). Government should and would be doing the exact opposite IF the perceived threat was REAL and immediate - we wouldn't hear a thing about it until 90% of us were actually sick, and even then they would tell us only 10% of tbe population was sick...

Next item: this morn bbc news reports that a top british official has been accused of investment improprieties. He then did something astounding. Something completely unheard of in American politics. He resigned his govt post saying he did not wish to subject his govt to controversy and the appearance of impropriety. What a concept. Tom delay, bill frist, karl rove, dick cheney-are you listening? Oh, sorry, I didn’t think so.
