Oct 12 commentary
"For links to the articles I read on the air, guest
websites, archived shows, my commentaries, a listener's
discussion forum, and the text of mark stannearts lastest
commentary, visit: www.rabblerousing.org."
good guest today so short commentary:
first item: this morning travis t hipp lead story was the
investigation in chicago of who outed cia agent Valerie plame,
who knew, and that wash dc was awash with rumors that karl rove
and perhaps dick cheney were due to testify before the grand
jury, and most sensational, that indictments would soon be
issued. The implication being that if indictments to prosecute
were indeed issued, that could bring down the entire bush cabal.
One might consider that an important story. According to this
mornings npr news one would be wrong. Not a mention. Zip. Nada.
If npr is an alternative news source, then im elvis preasley.
next item:email from a listener Pay attention to VENEZUELA
The fate of
the USA hinges on the dollar, as that is practically the only
thing that we produce, and last year we exported $760 billion of
them via the trade deficit. In that regard, seeing the writing
on the wall, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Venezuela has
moved its central bank foreign reserves out of U.S. banks,
liquidated its investments in U.S. Treasury securities and
placed the funds in Europe. CHAMBA,
YOU UNDERSTAND THE IMPLICATIONS OF VENEZUELA SHIFTING TO EUROS
… IT’S THE SAME THING THAT saddam hussain was
doing IN IRAQ PRIOR TO THIS LAST INVASION …I WONDER HOW
WILL THE BUSHITES MAKE CHAVEZ THE NEXT PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER ONE
???
its an interesting question. One could posit that one reason
if not the major reason for the us invasion of iraq was to send
a clear message to all other oil producing nations that they’d
better continue trading oil in dollars and that switching to
euros might have very serious consequences, such as being
invaded and taken over by the us.
Next item: I heard a news report, not sure from which radio
station, that the mayor of new Orleans, ray nagin, was proposing
plans to change the laws of new Orleans to allow hotels of over
500 beds to add casinos to their enterprises. I’m sure all the
poor people of new Orleans who lost their homes, and possessions
will be pleased at this innovative plan for urban improvement.
Next item: Mark stanneart is one of my favorite commentators.
So I feel no shame in stealing an item from his last weeks rant.
He got it from the Person-on-the-street type column in last
Sunday’s Chronicle–the question was "Can you
depend on President Bush in a crisis?" Best answer:
"If we were lost with him in the woods, I think he’d be
the first one we’d choose to eat." |
